Sanofi, Bristol-Myers sign pre-merger deal: report

This may not be very surprising provided the fact that they already have marketing understandings with their hugely popular drugs Plavix (Clopidogrel) and Avapro (Irbesartan).

Interesting fact is that, if this merger works out, Pfizer will be pushed to the Second position in market value. Let us wait n watch how Pfizer copes with that. Coz, they r not used to that lowly place !!!!!

Possible after-effects:

Sanofi gets a significant presence in the US market
Sanofi gets access to the strong pipeline of BMS.

The unfortunate thing could be the ‘lay-offs’ in field work force. Already Pharma sales force is traumatized by the recent layoffs in Pfizer and other companies.
