US auditors observe that the attention given to geriatric population in clinical trials, safety studies is not up to the required level. This has been observed even in studies on diseases concerning mainly the elderly.

Many drug trials exclude elderly participants, and others don't document a drug's safety and effectiveness for older people, according to the report issued today by the Government Accountability Office, the investigative agency of Congress.
